Diet & Nutrition | Medicutis Clinic

“Food is not the enemy. Eating incorrectly for your biology is. We find the difference — for you specifically.”

Nutrition at Medicutis is not a standard meal plan, a calorie counter, or a generic diet chart. It is a medically supervised, data-driven nutritional programme that uses clinical assessment, advanced diagnostic testing, and where indicated, genetic analysis to understand how your unique biology responds to food — and designs a sustainable nutritional strategy around that understanding.

Our nutritional programmes are designed and overseen by clinicians who understand the intersection of nutrition, metabolism, endocrinology, and dermatology — not just dieticians working from standard population-level guidelines. Every programme begins with a consultation, appropriate diagnostic workup, and personalised goal-setting.

Medical Weight Loss Programme

Not a crash diet. Not a calorie counter. A medically supervised programme built on your actual body composition, metabolic rate, and insulin sensitivity. We protect your muscle while reducing your fat, manage your cortisol and insulin dynamics, and adjust every month based on real data — not guesswork.

Why patients choose it:

  • Starts with InBody/DEXA body composition analysis — your real baseline
  • Resting metabolic rate calculated to personalise your caloric target
  • Macronutrients and meal timing structured to your metabolic type
  • Micronutrient protocol for deficiencies common in weight loss (iron, B12, D, magnesium)
  • Monthly review and adjustment based on body composition — not just the scale

Best for: Overweight patients, metabolic syndrome, patients failing conventional diets, pre-bariatric preparation

Genetic Test-Based Diet (Nutrigenomics)

Your genes hold the blueprint for how your body responds to food. Do you respond better to low-fat or low-carb? Do you metabolise caffeine slowly or rapidly? Is your folate pathway working correctly? A genetic nutrition panel analyses the specific gene variants that determine your metabolic responses — and your diet is built around that, not population averages.

Why patients choose it:

  • Identifies your optimal macronutrient balance — low fat vs low carb for your genome
  • Caffeine, lactose, and gluten tolerance from your DNA
  • MTHFR and folate metabolism — critical for those who need methylfolate, not folic acid
  • Vitamin D receptor genetics — personalised supplementation
  • One test, a lifetime of more precise nutrition

Best for: Patients wanting maximum personalisation, failed multiple diet approaches, metabolic disease family history, performance nutrition

Allergy-Specific Diet

Food allergies react fast and obviously. Food intolerances are slower and sneakier — digestive discomfort, skin flares, fatigue, brain fog — and most patients have no idea what food is driving it. After comprehensive testing (prick test and food intolerance panel), we build a diet that eliminates your specific triggers while keeping your nutrition complete.

Why patients choose it:

  • Follows comprehensive allergy prick test and food intolerance panel (see Diagnostics page)
  • Identifies your specific IgE-mediated allergies and non-IgE intolerances
  • Elimination and nutritional replacement programme — no nutritional gaps
  • Reintroduction protocol after 6–8 weeks to find your tolerance thresholds
  • Relevant for IBS, eczema, urticaria, and unexplained fatigue

Best for: Diagnosed food allergy or intolerance, IBS, eczema with dietary triggers, unexplained fatigue or digestive symptoms

Disease-Specific Diet

Chronic disease management at Medicutis doesn’t stop at medication. The nutritional dimension of diabetes, thyroid disorders, PCOS, cardiovascular disease, fatty liver, and IBS is evidence-based and impactful — yet rarely addressed in standard care. We design eating plans that support your medication, reduce your disease burden, and often reduce your medication needs over time.

Why patients choose it:

  • Diabetes: low glycaemic load, meal timing, insulin sensitivity nutrition
  • Thyroid/Hashimoto’s: selenium, iodine, anti-inflammatory approach
  • PCOS: insulin sensitising diet, inositol supplementation
  • Cardiovascular: Mediterranean pattern, omega-3 optimisation, plant sterols
  • IBS/Gut: low-FODMAP, microbiome restoration, barrier support

Best for: Diabetes, thyroid disorders, PCOS, cardiovascular disease, NAFLD, IBS — wanting nutritional support alongside medical management

Anti-Inflammatory Diet

Chronic low-grade inflammation is quietly driving ageing, heart disease, metabolic disorders, skin conditions, and impaired immunity in most urban Indians. It’s largely diet-driven — and diet is the most powerful lever to address it. The Medicutis anti-inflammatory programme is personalised, culturally relevant, and built on evidence, not trends.

Why patients choose it:

  • Removes ultra-processed foods and trans fats — the primary inflammation triggers
  • Corrects the omega-6:omega-3 imbalance rampant in Indian diets
  • Mediterranean dietary framework adapted to Indian food preferences
  • Polyphenol-rich foods for inflammation pathway modulation
  • Gut microbiome support through prebiotics and fibre

Best for: Chronic inflammatory conditions, metabolic syndrome, elevated CRP, preventive anti-ageing nutrition

Supplement Stacking (Evidence-Based Protocol)

Not a list of supplements from a pharmacy. A precision protocol designed from your blood tests, genetic data, and health goals — specifying the right supplement, in the right form, at the right dose. Metformin depletes B12. Statins deplete CoQ10. MTHFR variants need methylfolate not folic acid. We know this — and we prescribe accordingly.

Why patients choose it:

  • Blood test-based: only supplements with confirmed deficiency or clinical indication
  • Form-appropriate: methylcobalamin not cyanocobalamin, methylfolate not folic acid
  • Medication-aware: addresses depletions caused by long-term medications
  • Goal-oriented: skin, hair, longevity, metabolic, or sports performance
  • Eliminates wasteful generic supplementation — targeted and measurable

Best for: Nutritional deficiencies, long-term medications, genetic variants (MTHFR), skin and hair optimisation, metabolic health

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a genetic diet test worth doing?

For specific, well-evidenced gene-diet interactions — yes. MTHFR and folate, APOE and fat metabolism, caffeine metabolism, lactose tolerance, and vitamin D receptor variants are all genuinely actionable. For general obesity risk, genetic data is less precise. At Medicutis we use genetic testing as one input alongside blood tests and clinical assessment — not as a standalone magic solution.

What's the difference between food allergy and intolerance?

Food allergy is IgE-mediated — fast reaction within minutes to 2 hours, potentially severe (hives, swelling, anaphylaxis). Food intolerance is slower — hours to days, less severe, mainly digestive symptoms, fatigue, or skin reactions. Both are assessed at Medicutis through appropriate testing.

Can diet manage Type 2 diabetes without medication?

In early or pre-diabetes, yes — structured caloric restriction with low glycaemic load eating can produce remission in clinical trials. In established Type 2 diabetes, diet significantly reduces HbA1c and may allow medication reduction. At Medicutis, any medication reduction is medically supervised — never done independently.
